Water Quality

Introduction
Water Quality Division is carrying out research projects, consultancy programmes and training activities. The water analysis laboratory of the division is NABL accredited. The research projects are funded by UNICEF, DST, UNDP, TIFAC, Local Self Government, KSCSTE, Environment Department, etc.  Water Quality Division undertakes analysis of physico-chemical, microbiological, nutrients, heavy metals and pesticide residues of water samples.  It also carries out analysis of sediments, plant residues and biological characteristics of water.

Major Activities
Water Quality Division is carrying out various activities in water quality management. This involves water quality monitoring, water quality modelling and water treatment. The division is now developing a water quality information system for Kerala state.
The major activities of the division can be summarised as below:

  • To carry out independent research projects 
  • To carry out analysis of water samples for various PROJECTS being carried out in different divisions of CWRDM and Sub-centres
  • To maintain sophisticated analytical equipment
  • To carry out consultancy works regarding water analysis for government departments/agencies/private organizations
