The Centre for Water Resources Development and Management has established a highly sophisticated isotope laboratory, the first of its kind in South India as the ‘National Facility’. With financial assistance from Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, to the tune of 3.5 crores and a supporting grant of Rs.50/- lakhs from the Kerala State Council for Science Technology and Environment, the facility thrives under the project entitled ‘Stable Isotope Facility for Research in Basic and Applied Sciences’ in the Isotope Hydrology Division of the Centre. The isotope hydrology laboratory is one of the six such laboratories in the country. The Facility was dedicated to the nation by Sri V S Achyuthanandan, Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala on 10th June 2007 in the presence of Sri N K Premachandran, Minister for Water Resources, Govt. of Kerala.
